Our mission is to deliver high-quality, sustainable, and socially responsible student housing that enhances tenant well-being, strengthens communities, and minimises environmental impact.

Making Sustainable Choices

  • Sustainable Refurbishments: We are committed to using eco-friendly and long-lasting materials for our property refurbishments. Where possible, we aim to retain existing fixtures and furniture. Any unwanted items will be recycled or donated.
  • Energy Efficiency: Where it makes sense, we install better insulation, smart technology, and renewable energy options like solar panels to reduce the energy consumption of our properties
  • Eco-Friendly Living: Through simple, practical guides, we help our tenants recycle better, save energy, and reduce waste.
  • Green Energy Contracts: We aim to supply all of our buildings with electricity generated from 100% renewable sources.

 

Bringing People Together

  • Co-Living: We design our homes to be enjoyed by groups of friends, allowing our tenants to benefit from lower living costs, more space, and greater social connectivity.
  • Well-Designed: We carefully design our living spaces to give residents a space they can feel proud of, prioritising wellbeing and safety.
  • Giving Back: We hire locally and support local charities as much as we can. We’re also big believers in empowering our tenants to make a difference. As part of this, we create opportunities for students to volunteer and/or lead their own community projects.

Doing Things Right

  • Safety First: We make sure all of our properties are safe and compliant with housing regulations.
  • 24/7 Support: Our dedicated property management team are on hand 24/7 to resolve any maintenance or other tenant issues as soon as possible. We’ll also conduct regular tenant surveys to better understand and respond to tenant needs.
  • Clear and Simple: No jargon in our contracts – just leases tenants can understand and trust.
  • ESG Reporting: We’re committed to being as transparent on our ESG goals as possible and will publish an annual report that covers how we’re doing.

Case Studies

  • Smart Home Tech

    At the start of the academic year in 2024, we installed intelligent thermostats across our properties in Newcastle. We're aiming to cut energy used from wasted heating by 35%. We’ll publish our performance later in 2025.

  • Water & Energy Efficient Showers

    We’re installing efficient showers in our bathrooms. We estimate we can save at least 30% of the water used by a standard shower. We’ll publish our performance later in 2025.

  • Solar PV

    We assess all our homes for solar viability. If we can install panels, we will. After each refurbishment cycle we’ll publish how many houses we assessed, how many kWh we installed and our reasons for not installing where we didn’t do so.

  • Recycling

    We aim to donate all reusable furniture and appliances. After each refurbishment cycle we’ll publish a list of everything that we donated.
